CLEMSON — CATbus and City transportation planners will hold a public workshop on Oct. 4 to give patrons an opportunity to “re-imagine” the CATbus system.

The workshop will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the conference room at CATbus, 200 West Lane in Clemson. The workshop will include a brief, formal presentation followed by a group breakout session where participants will be asked to “re imagine” the bus system.

Participants will be given a blank map and asked the question, “If you had to start from scratch, where and how would you provide bus service to meet the needs of today and in the future?”

CATbus and City staff, as well as Consultant Team members, will be available to talk with and ask questions of during the workshop.

CATbus has been working with stakeholders, including the City, Clemson University, the Chamber of Commerce, Clemson Downs, and others to identify their transit needs.

The suggestions from the stakeholders, as well as those from the workshop, will be considered by the Consultant Team, who will make recommendations to CATbus, prioritize the recommendations and develop associated costs for implementation.

Workshop participants will be provided background information about the current service area and

future growth areas, as well as other factors that impact the future of transportation in the region. For Seneca and Pendleton residents attending the workshop, a shuttle will be provided to those needing bus service past the normal route times.
