PICKENS COUNTY — Two escapees from the Pickens County Stockade have been captured and now face an additional charge of escape with bond hearings pending.

Dustin Ryan Floyd, 29, of 157 Smythe Ave. in Greenville, and Jeffrey Shane Mauldin, 28, of 255 Oak Brook Drive in Liberty, were reported missing from the Pickens County stockade June 9 following a headcount after escaping the facility around 2 p.m.

Based on information, Floyd and Mauldin had less than six months to serve on Family Court violations before they escaped.

Officials suspect they were picked up in a vehicle not far from the facility at the time of their escape. At the time, law enforcement was operating under the belief the two were still in the area, which proved accurate.

Pickens County deputies, working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, located Floyd a little more than 24 hours following his escape at 103 Daniel Ave. in Greenville County where he was taken into custody without incident or resistance. Floyd was immediately transported back to Pickens County to await a bond hearing.

Mauldin remained on the run until about 5:30 a.m. June 12 before reports of a suspicious male walking near a residence on Golden Creek Road in Liberty prompted deputies to respond.

Within minutes PCSO officers were on the scene, where Mauldin was spotted and a footchase ensued in a wooded area near Palmer Drive. The chase was brief and Mauldin surrendered without further incident and was transported to the Pickens County Detention Center to also await a bond hearing.

“I’m extremely proud of our personnel here at the Sheriff’s Office for their intensity and efforts given around the clock over the past couple of days,” Sheriff Rick Clark said following the second capture. “The deputies knew that our citizens were uncomfortable and concerned over the idea of having escapees in the area and the deputies were committed to locating and capturing the inmates as soon as possible for the community’s safety. Thank you to the great people in this county for their support and for the assistance that they have given us through leads and information throughout this investigation.”
