PICKENS — A tragic automobile accident in Pickens has left three dead and two others in care at Greenville Hospital System.

According to a release from the Pickens County Coroner’s Office, the collision took place at the intersection of S.C. 11 and West Gate Road in Pickens at 1:57 p.m. Sunday.

The two-car accident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Driver Megan Mullinax, 25, Kandice Broome, 14, and Furman Broome, 9, were pronounced dead at the scene having suffered fatal injuries due to blunt force trauma. The three passengers were all members of the same family as step siblings and resided at 11A Moody St. in Greenville.

Two other victims of the accident were airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital for treatment and at last check were still under the facility’s care.

All passengers and drivers involved in the collision were restrained with seat belts, according to a statement by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office.

The S.C. Highway Patrol’s investigating is ongoing.
