LIBERTY — Liberty Elementary School used Title One funds to purchase six “Little Free Library” kits to display around the town of Liberty.
The goal is to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges. Read more about it at www.littlefreelibrary.org.
The school student council officers presented the project idea to the town council and proceeded to coordinate the completed project. The LES student council had help from Watch D.O.G.S. volunteers and from art students. Each grade level in the school voted on a theme for each library.
A team of faculty, staff, students and volunteers assembled, painted and installed six Little Free Libraries around Liberty at Playhouse Pals, Iselin Park, Ingles, Liberty Bell, Liberty Family Care and on Commerce Street.
The libraries are now ready for residents to “Take a book and leave a book!”
