ANDERSON – A man and woman from Anderson have been charged in the shooting death of a woman over the weekend, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
Chevis Jake Morris, 23, of 501 Mountain Creek Church Road in Anderson, and Jordan Michaela Hart, 21, of 2419 Warriors Path in Anderson, were arrested Sunday morning and transported to the Anderson County Detention Center.
Morris was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and murder and Hart was charged with accessory after the fact of murder. They both remained in jail on Monday afternoon.
According to the ACSO, deputies were called to 106 Russell Drive in Anderson around 8:40 p.m. Saturday about a shooting. When they arrived, they found the homeowner, Jennifer Claire Poore, 38, lying in a pool of blood.
Poore was taken to AnMed Health Medical Center for treatment and was pronounced dead there.
An autopsy indicated that Poore was shot once. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Morris and Hart were also charged with first-degree burglary and grand larceny for offenses committed while on the run after the shooting. They were charged with breaking into 575 Hall Road in Anderson and stealing a vehicle.
Morris is also facing a separate charge of grand larceny for stealing a different vehicle during the first week of July.
