CLEMSON — The South Carolina Botanical Garden at Clemson University is getting a new entrance, meaning visitors will have to enter the gardens from the Caboose Parking entrance on Perimeter Road.

Darlene Evans, director of communications for the garden, said construction on a new entrance gate began Monday.

“The new entrance will do so many things for the garden,” Evans said. “It will give us a fitting and exciting new look for visitors.”

Once construction is complete and the new entrance is in operation, the Caboose entrance from Perimeter Road will be closed. The new entrance will be the only way into and out of the garden, Evans said.

People who enter the garden through during the construction phase are asked to be aware of pedestrians, backing vehicles, as well as workers on and around the median.

Construction of the new main gate is Phase 1 and is expected to end in April 2017, Evans said. Phase 2 will include construction of a gate house.
