PENDLETON — Tri-County Technical College’s spring concert will feature selections from current and modern Broadway hits.
The Tri-County Technical College Chorus and Jazz Band will present its annual spring concert April 21 at 7 p.m. in the Marshall Parker Auditorium on the Pendleton Campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of conductor and music instructor Julia West, the 14-member choir will give performances from Broadway musicals “Hamilton,” “Dear Evan Hansen” and “Hairspray.”
The jazz band, directed by Cory Dodgens, will perform jazz and funk songs.
“This group has a lot of musical experience. They are real performers who shine,” West said. “We love the showmanship and spectacle of Broadway musicals. We’ve worked on fun and challenging pieces that also will showcase soloists in the choir and the band. This concert sets us in a new direction for the future. It has been a great semester for this very talented group.”
West added that although the concert is free, donations to the College’s Music Scholarship Fund are welcome. The goal is to raise money for an endowed scholarship that will benefit students who want to enroll in the chorus class but cannot afford it.
