EASLEY — Community Chiropractic is inviting Easley residents out for an afternoon of fun and learning next Saturday by hosting Kids Day America.
“Kids Days America is a national event, but we’ve never had one in Easley before,” said Dr. Kevin Mobley. “For the past 22 or so years — all on the same day — cities and towns all across the country hold these events on the same day, May 20.”
Mobley said the event is designed to educate parents and families and promote children’s health, safety and environmental awareness.
“We’ll have vendors set up and they’re all designed to promote one or more of those three main things,” he said. “There’s a lady named Stephanie Porter who will be here to perform car seat safety checks, the fire department will be here, the police department will be here, there will be a bouncy house, hot dogs — it’s going to be a good time.”
In addition to having safety professionals on hand, the event will also be acting as a fundraiser for The Dream Center.
“We’re not keeping any of the money we raise,” said Mobley. “It’s all going to them.”
Mobley said this being the first year for the event, he wasn’t exactly sure how many would show up but he was hoping for 100 to 200 people.
“I bought 150 hot dogs,” he said. “We’ll just have to see how it goes.”
Piedmont Baptist Association has signed on as a vendor as has Easley Combined Utilities, the library, the recreation department and Foothills Gymnastics and cheer.
“We’re planning on having everyone set up here in the building and then spilling out into the parking lot where the bouncy house and fire truck and everything will be,” said Mobley. “We’re also going to have a the biggest shaved ice machine you have ever seen.”
Mobley said everything at the event will be free to the public.
“We just want everyone to come on out, bring the kids, and have a good time,” he said,
Kids Day America runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 20 in the front parking lot of Community Chiropractic located at 1097 S. Pendleton St. in Easley.
