OCONEE COUNTY — A 57-year-old Seneca man remained in the Oconee County Detention Center on Monday on charges he stabbed his wife in the chest with a large kitchen knife and broke a vase over her head.

Randall Hank McGuffin, of 327 Timberlake One Circle, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 4 a.m. Aug. 21 on charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

According to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office:

Deputies were dispatched to the Timberlake One Circle address around 2:18 a.m. Friday to a report of domestic violence. Deputies arrived and after knocking, were met at the door by McGuffin, who told the deputies that his wife was asleep.

The deputies told McGuffin they needed to see and speak with her to make sure she was OK.

McGuffin’s wife came out of the bedroom and as both individuals made their way outside to speak with the deputies, the deputies noticed the wife had difficulty moving. Soon thereafter, the wife told deputies that her husband, McGuffin, had assaulted her.

After checking her injuries, the wife was transported to the hospital and McGuffin was arrested. The incident scene was turned over to an investigator from the Criminal Investigations Division. McGuffin was booked on a Temporary Custody Order due to the domestic situation until the other warrants were obtained.
