Man dies in Easley shooting

EASLEY — The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatal shooting of a man late Tuesday night at a home on Walker Street in Easley.

The Sheriff’s Office received reports around 9 p.m. Tuesday that someone had been shot at 115 Walker St.

When deputies arrived, they found an adult male inside the home with multiple injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The man was transported to a local hospital but he died during the night.

The identity of the man is unknown at this time. Witnesses at the scene said he did not live at the residence.

Information gathered during the preliminary investigation indicate that the man entered the residence uninvited while allegedly armed with a handgun.

A confrontation between the deceased and the other occupants inside the home resulted in multiple shots being fired between at least two people, including the man who died. No other injuries were reported.

As many as five other adults were inside the home when the shooting occurred.

Two handguns and spent shell casings were recovered from inside the residence. No other arrests have been made.

An autopsy will be conducted at the request of the Pickens County Coroner’s Office to determine the manner and cause of death.
