PICKENS — Despite an impressive stand by the Blue Flame defense and multiple turnovers by Seneca, Pickens lost to the Bobcats 31-6, breaking their two-game win streak.

Seneca (7-0, 4-0) remained undefeated after Friday’s game at Pickens, but it was hardly the blow-out spectacle that many fans were expecting.

Eleven penalties for a total of 80 yards, combined with numerous interceptions, sacks and fumbles made Friday’s match-up a one point game at the half.

After a touchdown in the first, Seneca was answered by two quick field goals in the second by the Blue Flame. Pickens’ defense held the normally high powered Seneca offense at bay and the crowd went wild as the half ended with Pickens (3-4, 2-2) only down by one.

Unfortunately for the Blue Flame, the Bobcats came out hot in the second half scoring a touchdown in the third and putting up another 17 points in the fourth — while the defense held Pickens to zero.

The Pickens run game made another appearance on Friday as Coach John Boggs seemed to move away from his recent pass-happy ways. As a result time of possession favored the Blue Flame who, with 50 plays, had control of the ball for 27:16 to Seneca’s 20:44.

Next up, Pickens will travel to Daniel in a regional game to take on the Lions this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Daniel (2-5, 2-2) is coming off a close 47-48 loss to Belton-Honea Path.
