LIBERTY — The Liberty Red Devils had a nice defensive stand against Pendleton (7-2, 5-1), but ultimately fell to the Bulldogs with a final score of 14-7.

By holding Pendleton, a team that has been averaging more than 31 points a game, to just two touchdowns, Liberty (2-7, 1-5) has fully established themselves as having a defense that needs to be taken seriously.

The team may be struggling with seven losses for the season, but it’s important to note that the majority of those losses (five of them) were by 14 points or less.

Liberty will finish out regular season play by hitting the road to take on Carolina Academy.

The Trojans (1-8, 1-5) were just shut out 34-0 at Powdersville on Friday and are undoubtedly looking to end the season at home on a high note. Carolina Academy’s only win of the season so far was the 21-14 regional victory over Landrum back on Sept. 18. Liberty lost to Landrum 19-14 a week later.

Other common opponents for the schools include Powdersville, Chesnee, Pendleton and Woodruff, all of which defeated both teams. Blacksburg beat the Trojans 13-7 on Oct. 2 and lost to the Red Devils on Oct. 9.

Kick off for Liberty at Carolina Academy is at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
