PICKENS — The Blue Flame’s 2016 season continues to decline as Pickens suffered yet another loss on the road — and their first in-region loss — this time falling to Greenville.

The 5-1, 1-0 Red Raiders’ defense held Pickens at bay as they put up a staggering 44 points in the first half of the game alone. A single trip to the end zone in the third rounded out the score to the final 51-0.

Pickens (1-5, 0-1) hasn’t won a game all year with the exception of week four’s 54-21 stomp down of West-Oak.

Up next for the Blue Flame is Belton Honea-Path, the last road game of the season.

BHP (5-1) is coming off a 52-28 win at Emerald and their only loss this season was the 21-13 debacle back in week four at TL Hanna.

For the Bears, this will be their first regional game.

Following BHP, Pickens returns home for the remainder of the season hosting match-ups against Wren, Traveler’s Rest and then closing out the season with Daniel on Oct. 28.

At this point, barring a miracle, there will be no post-season appearance for the Blue Flame despite the personnel change of replacing Coach John Boggs on Sept. 21 with Chad Seaborn.

Seaborn had previously served as head coach from 2009-2014, accumulating a 21-25 record in his four years at the helm.

According to SDPC information specialist John Eby, Seaborn will serve as interim coach until a decision can be made on who best to fill the position.

Pickens at Belton Honea-Path kicks off Friday at 7:30 p.m.
