EASLEY — After last week’s 30-28 Homecoming win against Greenville, expectations were high going into Friday’s match-up with TL Hanna.

Unfortunately, in a game marked by fumbles, safeties and mixed extra points, the Green Wave wasn’t able to hang on and their record dropped to 3-4.

About midway through the first, Hanna took an early lead with a short scramble into the end zone. A botched extra point kept the score 6-0 Hanna to close out the first.

Easley answered back the very first play in the second with a touchdown run by Will Drawdy followed by the second missed extra point of the game to keep the score tied at 6-6.

Hanna scored twice in the remainder of the first half, first with a safety that bumped the score to 8-6 followed by a touchdown courtesy of a Green Wave turnover.

Both teams headed to the locker rooms with the score 15-6 at the half.

The second half saw Easley come out strong: First with a 51-yard punt return by Sean Faulkner for a touchdown and then a nice pass into the end zone where the Green Wave took the lead for the first time of the night with the scoreboard reading 20-15 at the end of the third.

Not even two minutes into the fourth, Hanna snuck it to the house and made good on a two-point conversion to reclaim the lead.

The Yellow Jackets followed it up by ending Easley’s drive to score with an interception inside the 10. Four minutes later, Hanna turned the pick into 6, bringing the score to 30-20 with less than 5 on the clock.

Easley attempted to rally with an 80-yard touchdown pass from QB Weston Black to Drawdy but yet another missed extra point kept the score 30-26, Hanna.

The final score of the night came at the hands of Hanna with a little over two minutes left in the game. Final score: 37-26, Hanna.

The Green Wave travels to Westside Friday to take on the 6-1 Rams. Kick off for Easley at Westside is 7:30 p.m. in Anderson.
