EASLEY — An Easley man who was found dead in his home as the result of an apparent homicide has been identified as 54-year old Clarence Barry Holcombe by Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley.

Holcombe was discovered in his residence at 112 Planters Way after a neighbor saw him through a window laying on the floor. When Holcombe was unresponsive to knocks at the door, the neighbor dialed 911.

Deputies from the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene along with emergency medical personnel and forced entry to the residence after confirming the victim was unresponsive.

According to Chief Deputy Creed Hashe, Holcombe was dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The weapon, believed to be a small caliber handgun, was not found at the scene, nor was there any immediate evidence of forced entry to the home.

Interviews of friends and relatives as well as statements are currently being taken by the PCSO, which is investigating the death as a homicide. Hashe stated that the investigation is still in the preliminary stages and that no arrests have been made at this time.
