Ten schools contributed players to the team including Easley High School, Daniel High School, T.L. Hanna High School, Wren High School, Powdersville High School, Belton Honea Path High School, Walhalla High School, Seneca High School as well as Anderson Christian and Anderson University.

The 17 players on the Host team range in age from 16 to 18, with many playing several positions a piece.

The young players will be under the direction of Powell, Coach Bobby Youngblood and Coach Todd Freeman. Tommy Keef is serving as S.C. District 1 administrator with Jon Humphrey as the BLWS Tournament Director.

As always, the tournament is set to draw national attention to the city of Easley.

“This is a special year for us as it’s the 15th anniversary for the series,” Powell said during the banquet. “It (the BLWS) used to be played in Arizona before coming here — and do you know what the smaller tournaments say on their T-shirts? ‘The road to Easley.’ I told the mayor a couple of years ago, you just can’t buy that kind of publicity.”

The tournament will run from July 28 to Aug. 4 with the championship game taking place on Aug. 4 at 7:30 p.m. It is scheduled to be broadcast live on ESPN.

S.C. District 1 will first play in Game 3 against the West at 7:30 p.m. July 28. The winner will advance to take on the Southeast at the same time the following night.
