CLEMSON — The seventh annual Donate Life Duel gives Tiger and Gamecock fans the opportunity to show their support for organ and tissue donation and compete to see which team can register the most organ and tissue donors.

From now until Nov. 27, before the rivalry football game, fans can register to donate organs and tissue. By registering, you have the opportunity to save a life down the road.

Tiger and Gamecock fans, Clemson University and University of South Carolina students, staff, alumni and all community members are encouraged to register as organ donors and to vote. It’s easy to register online at www.donatelifesc.org, the website for Donate Life SC.

Approximately 122,000 people are on the transplant list in the United States and about 22 people die each day while waiting. Of those 122,000 people, 1,000 people are on the waiting list for organs and tissue in South Carolina.

A donation of this caliber is the opportunity to free oneself as well as someone on that long list of potential donor recipients. Coming together either as a Tiger or a Gamecock to register to be an organ donor can help save multiple lives across the country.

The Donate Life Duel is the most successful single event for registering donors in South Carolina. Take the time to save a life and compete with the Gamecocks by registering and voting for the Tigers (or for the Gamecocks).

Led by the Clemson Chapter of Trew Friends and supported by Donate Life South Carolina (DLSC), LifePoint, and The Heather Trew Foundation, this event encourages everyone to register (it doesn’t matter where you live or who you are) and educates everyone who hears about the Duel about the importance of organ and tissue donation.

You can register online at www.donatelifesc.org, at the DMV, or at tables outside the Blood Bowl at the Hendrix Student Center and the Palmetto Ballroom. Contact Elliana Nixon at ellian@clemson.edu for more information.
