EASLEY — Thomas Wright will continue to serve on Easley’s City Council as representative for Ward 5 following a runoff against challenger Bob Fedder.

Wright beat Fedder by only three votes during the general election on Nov. 3 but neither candidate received more than 50 percent of the votes — Wright receiving 49.61 percent and Fedder receiving 48.06 percent.

“We did a little better this time,” said Wright. “I’ll have to look at my records for the exact numbers but it was a difference of 20 or so votes.”

With the wider margin of victory, Wright said he is looking forward to continuing to serve his district and the city. He has served as city councilman for the past 21 years.

Randy Russell of the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Pickens County said of the 2,060 registered voters in Ward 5, only 125 ballots were cast in the runoff — just over 6 percent.
