WALHALLA — The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Oconee County Coroner’s Office, is investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday night in the Westminster area.
Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis identified the victim as Jesse Eugene Mulkey, 33, of Westminster. An autopsy was performed Dec. 22.
Deputies from the Uniform Patrol Division were dispatched to 330 Brock Road around 9:52 p.m. in reference to a shooting. When deputies arrived, they discovered Mulkey’s body with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Deputies notified the Criminal Investigations Division and an investigation began as deputies sealed off the area and began to gather evidence.
The Sheriff’s Office does not believe that the public is in any danger at this time.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
