WALHALLA — The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Anderson County man on an outstanding grand larceny warrant for his role in the theft of a dump trailer last July.

Justin Brent Kirby, 24, of Ligon Drive was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 3:19 p.m. Jan. 16 after being transported from jail in Anderson by a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division.

A deputy spoke with a complainant by phone on July 20, 2015, about a stolen dump trailer that was taken from a construction site on South Port Drive in the Seneca area. The trailer was valued around $5,500. The theft occurred sometime between July 17 and July 20 of last year.

The case was turned over the Criminal Investigations Division and during the process of the investigation, it was determined that Kirby, along with Johelen Maria Derrick, 41, of South Lyons Street in Anderson, had taken the 2015 dual axle dump trailer from the construction site.

Kirby posted bond and was released from the Detention Center on Jan. 17.

Derrick has an outstanding grand larceny warrant in relation to the case and is wanted by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.
