EASLEY — Four officials from the city of Easley took the oath of office on Tuesday night, securing their service to the city for another term.

Mayor Larry Bagwell, Ward 1 Councilmen Brian Garrison and Ward 3 Councilman Chris Mann all secured their seats after running unopposed in the 2015 election.

Ward 5 Councilman Thomas Wright defended his seat after a runoff was ordered between Wright and challenger Bob Fedder.

“Let me just say I look forward to the next four years,” said Bagwell. “Easley has a lot going on and it’s all attributed to, I’d say, the work of the council.

“We’ve been together for a good while and sometimes that’s good, sometimes that’s bad, but anyway, I’m looking forward to working with these young men for the next four years,” said Bagwell.

Councilman Mann echoed the mayor’s sentiments, saying he remembered the first time he was sworn in, his wife was there holding his then 6-month-old son.

“He’s almost taller than me now,” Mann joked.

Councilman Kent Dykes was nominated and unanimously named Mayor Pro Tem by the council, taking over the position from Councilman Thomas Wright.

“We take turns,” Dykes said after the meeting. “It’s an honor, I’m very pleased.”

Also sworn in at Tuesday’s City Council meeting was Jeff Fogle as Easley Combined Utilities Commissioner.

Barring resignation, everyone reelected will retain their position until 2020.
