Fire on McAlister Road

EASLEY — A residence burned on McAlister Road in Easley on April 2 at just shortly before 1 p.m.

Easley Fire Chief Butch Womack stated in a release that upon arrival of the first due engine, heavy smoke was reported coming from the within the structure.

Fire personnel extinguished the fire within 30 minutes of arrival, he said.

Salvage and overhaul procedures were conducted and the origin and cause team responded to the scene.

Two smoke detectors alerted the residents to the fire, officials said. No injuries were reported.

The City of Easley Police Department, Easley Combined Utilities, Fort Hill Natural Gas, Pickens County EMS and Rescue 8 responded to assist with traffic control, securing utilities and to take care of any medical needs that may have come about.

The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants.
