EASLEY — The City of Easley Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 118 Pebble Brook Drive Apt. F on April 11.

Upon arrival of the first due engine, smoke could be seen coming from the roof vents. The fire was confined to the kitchen and extinguished within 10 minutes of arrival using a portable fire extinguisher.

Salvage and overhaul procedures were conducted to ensure that there was no fire extension into the attic. Three Engine Companies and One Ladder Company responded to the call.

“Thanks to an alert occupant, the damage from the fire was significantly reduced,” Easley Fire Chief Butch Womack stated. “Your firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the kitchen area limiting damage to the rest of the complex.”

The City of Easley Police Department assisted with evacuation of the surrounding apartments.

Additionally, Combined Utilities responded to secure the utilities and Pickens County EMS responded to take care of any medical needs as part of the county-wide, “Box Alarm System.”
