LIBERTY — The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Liberty resident following the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting of his girlfriend.

According to reports, at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 the Sheriff’s Office received reports of a shooting that had occurred in a camper located at 102 Bee Tree Ct in Liberty. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult female that had been shot at least twice in the legs with a small caliber handgun.

Interviews with witnesses at the scene provided deputies with information that confirmed that a male and his 43-year-old girlfriend had been in a verbal dispute for several hours, a news release stated.

The argument turned violent when the boyfriend, identified as 50-year-old Robert Seaborne, Jr., presented a handgun and shot the victim while she was seated on a couch inside the camper, officials said.

No other parties were injured and no children were present when the incident occurred.

A .22 caliber revolver was recovered at the scene.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for small caliber gunshot wounds to both legs and later released with non-life threatening injuries.

“Robert Seaborne Bragg, Jr. was not at the scene of the shooting when deputies arrived but was later arrested Sunday night in Laurens County,” said PCSO Chief Deputy Creed Hashe. “He was transported back to Pickens County where he is currently detained in the Pickens County Detention Center.”

Bragg is charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. Bond was denied.
