EASLEY — One man is dead following a crash in Anderson County after a police pursuit that happened on June 21.

According to Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley, 49-year-old Kenneth David Reynolds of Easley was pronounced dead in the operating room at Greenville Memorial Hospital after his vehicle was involved in a multi-county chase with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

The S.C. Highway Patrol said the collision occurred around 1:15 p.m. on Anderson Highway near Flat Rock Road when troopers said the driver of a Chrysler was struck by the driver of a Dodge pickup truck.

Reynolds was injured and entrapped in the vehicle before being taken to the hospital, they said.

Reports state an ACSO deputy saw a vehicle speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road. The pursuit was initiated when the driver failed to yield to blue lights, officials said.

Troopers said the ACSO deputy stopped the chase after it crossed into Pickens County, but it resumed when deputies said the vehicle came back and passed them again.

The crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
