PICKENS — A 53-year-old man remained in jail Monday on charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime after an apparent domestic dispute led to a woman being stabbed.
Johnny Lee Ware was booked into the Pickens County Detention Center just after 8 p.m. July 8.
According to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded July 8 to 319 Secona Road in Pickens after a call was placed to 911 at 7:15 p.m. that a woman had been stabbed multiple times in the upper chest.
The 56-year-old victim was able to tell officer on the scene that she had been stabbed by Ware, whom she described as her on-again, off-again boyfriend. Ware was still at the home and was arrested without incident.
The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to a local hospital where she was treated. An update on her condition was not available.
According to a statement released by PCSO, “the investigation is preliminary in nature, but early information is that the altercation stemmed from a previous verbal dispute.”
No other details on the dispute were made available. According to reports, there were no other individuals at the residence when the assault occurred.
