PICKENS COUNTY — An escaped inmate from the Pickens County Stockade was recaptured after three days of freedom, according to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.

Casey William Gillespie, 25, was captured by PCSO deputies July 14 around 7 a.m. According to details released by PCSO authorities, Gillespie was placed into custody following an initiated traffic stop on Main Street in Six Mile.

The vehicle had been under surveillance and was being operated by a female driver. She was not identified.

Gillespie was taken into custody without incident. He walked away from a work detail July 11 where he was mowing grass.

According to Stockade authorities, Gillespie will face a charge of escape. He is currently being held in the Pickens County Detention Center.

Gillespie was scheduled to be released July 26.
