EASLEY — Junior Leadership Pickens County graduated 25 high school juniors from Class V during a ceremony held May 16 at Bryant Lodge on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University.

All four high schools in Pickens County — DW Daniel, Easley, Liberty and Pickens — were represented in the JLPC graduating class.

Graduates from Pickens High School were Aliya Austin, Sarah Braudrick, Emily Cothran, Krista Just, Hannah Looper, Gabbi Mills, Shelby Nicholson, Jesse Soles, Rebecca White, Walker Williams and Jacob Williamson.

Easley High School graduates were Meriwether Galloway, Brooklyn Kelley and Evin Miller.

Daniel High School graduates were Hannah Buckner, Noah Burkett, Maggie Hanssen, Madison Holtzclaw, Ashley Latiff, Takiya Peppers, Sophie Povod, Helen Schmidt and Leah Tompkins.

Liberty High School graduates were Skyler Lovell and Chris Williamson.

Presented by Baptist Easley Hospital and facilitated by a volunteer Advisory Board of local business leaders, JLPC assists in the development of future leaders by providing programs to acquaint students with community successes and challenges; encouraging acceptance of civic responsibility and leadership roles; fostering development of leadership and communication skills; and increasing volunteerism and community involvement.

The program consists of five full-day sessions of leadership skills training and community awareness modules. In addition, students gain first-hand experience in team dynamics by participating in groups that develop a community service project, enhance public relations, and plan a special event.

Along with Baptist Easley Hospital, other JLPC program supporters included City of Clemson, City of Easley, Pickens County Career & Technology Center, Pickens County Legislative Delegation, School District of Pickens County, Sealevel Systems, and Tri-County Technical College.
