Three found dead at Greenville Pickens Speedway

PICKENS COUNTY — The search for a suspect in a fatal Greenville shooting came to a grizzly end this evening when a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s was discovered at the Greenville Pickens Speedway containing three bodies.

According to Greenville City Police, at 5:07 p.m. on Thursday a call came in about a woman shot in her car on the third floor of a parking garage in downtown Greenville at Main Street and Stone Avenue.

Police Chief Ken Miller said the suspect, also a woman, was believed to have fled the jurisdiction and they were coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend the woman and prevent any further loss of life.

Not quite two hours later, the suspect’s vehicle, reported as a 2014 black Jeep Patriot, was found at the speedway.

“The vehicle was locked and running,” said Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Creed Hashe during a press conference on scene. “There were three people inside, all deceased.”

Hashe said the victims all had wounds “consistent with gunshot wounds” but stated an official cause of death would have to come from the Coroner’s Office following autopsies.

No other suspects are being sought at this time and no other crime scenes are currently being investigated, he said.

Chief Miller had stated there may be children involved but it has not been confirmed if any of the bodies found in the Jeep are minors.

“We are not releasing any ages or sexes of the people found in the car (at the Speedway) at this point,” said Hashe.

Both Miller and Hashe stated the shooting appears to be “domestic,” although Hashe stated it was too early in the investigation to confirm.

“History tells us in situations like this they are domestic related,” said Hashe. “We don’t have any reason to think that’s not the case here.”

The names of the victims are being withheld until family notifications can be made and PCSO Sheriff Rick Clark asked the public to pray for the victims and their families at this time.

“Something like this, this can tear a family apart,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing with both Greenville City and the PCSO working together to piece together exactly what happened.

“You’ve got to keep in mind that a scene as graphic and horrific as this is — as tragic as it is — there’s a lot of evidence, a lot of forensic work that has to be done,” said Hashe. “It’s a very lengthy investigation.”
