PICKENS COUNTY — With the deadlines of election fillings completed, Pickens County residents are going to see some changes in their local representatives and city officials.
The big news to come out of the filings was Liberty Mayor Eric Boughman’s decision not to run for reelection.
Instead, voters will have to decide between Brian Peterson, current City Council member for Ward 4 and Mayor Pro Tem and Dan Parsons — who filed to run an hour and 20 minutes before the registration period closed.
Chuck Powell was not challenged for his position as the “at large” councilman on Liberty City Council, neither was Chris Carroll for his spot representing Ward 2. Crystal Smith will appear on the ballot for Ward 1 along with write-in candidate Bradley Dover.
Over in Central, Mayor Mac Martin will defend his seat from write-in Cory Owens and the Town Council has three spots to fill and four candidates vying for votes.
Current Town Council members Ken Dill and Paige Bowers will appear on the Nov. 7 ballot along with newcomers Brandon Thomas and Doug Barry.
Easley residents decided they were satisfied with their representation as City Councilmen Kent Dykes, Terry Moore and Jim Robinson have all been automatically reelected with no one to run against.
Nik Caldwell with Easley Combined Utilities was also unopposed.
Norris Town Council has two spots to fill and three people after them.
Keith Martin, Lawrence McClure Jr. and write-in candidate Jay Littleton will appear on the ballot for voters this November.
Like with Easley, residents in Six Mile won’t have to head to the polls for local elections either. Both James A. Atkinson and Jadd M. Smith were automatically elected as the only filers for the two positions.
That leaves last but not least, Pickens.
Pickens City Council has three seats to fill and four names to choose from. Current Councilmen Patrick Lark and Donnie McKinney are joined on the ballot by Donna F. Owen and Edgar J. Leese.
