EASLEY — Foothills Playhouse has brought classic television back to life with their latest production now playing, Happy Days.

Complete with Richie, Potsie, Ralph Malph and the leather-jacket-clad “king of cool” himself: Arthur “The Fonz” Fonzarelli.

Ayyyy ….

The musical is based on the hit Paramount Pictures television series and aims to reintroduce one of the best loved TV families, the Cunninghams (yes, Howard, Marion and Joanie are here too) to a whole new generation of kids and parents.

So, what’s it about? Well, without giving away too much, the famed drive-in malt shop and number one hangout, Arnold’s, is in danger of demolition.

The gang teams up to save it with methods including a dance contest and … a wrestling match? Don’t worry, it’s not as weird as it sounds.

The production calls for a five-piece band to accompany the show, giving the music an authentic sound straight from the 1950’s.

“Happy Days, A New Musical, has amazing music from Oscar-winner Paul Williams was written by the TV series original creator Garry Marshall,” reads the playbill. “Return to the days of 1959 Milwaukee complete with varsity sweaters, hula hoops and jukebox sock-hoppin’ fun. This perfectly family friendly musical will have you rockin’ and rollin’ all week long!”

The play is directed by Anne Robards and is presented through special arrangement with publishing company Samuel French.

The show is being staged this weekend at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday then next weekend at 8 p.m. Sept. 1 and Sept. 2 and at 3 p.m. Sept. 3.

Performance dates continue this weekend, Aug. 25-27, and next, Sept 1-3. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at www.fhplayhouse.com.
