Easley woman charged for murder of 7-month-old

ANDERSON COUNTY — Two people have been charged with murder following an investigation by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office in the death of a 7-month-old boy.

According to arrest warrants, Nathan Lee Roach, 36, of Williamston, and Cheyenne Michelle Otto, 19, of Easley were taken into custody on Aug. 31.

Roach is charged with Murder/Homicide by Child Abuse. Otto also faces Murder/Homicide by Child Abuse charges as well as aiding and abetting.

On Aug. 21, 2017 at approximately 8 p.m., ACSO deputies responded to a residence on Mahaffey Rd in Williamston in reference to a juvenile in cardiac arrest, according to a release from the department.

“Upon arrival, deputies learned that 7-month-old Camden Shaw Kidder was being transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital for possible injuries,” the statement reads. “On Aug. 25, 2017, ACSO investigators were notified by hospital personnel that baby Camden had died.”

Both Roach and Otto were booked into the Anderson County Detention Center, but the Sheriff’s Office has stated that bond information is not yet known.

No further arrests are expected.

“We are heartbroken over this case,” stated ACSO Sheriff Chad McBride. “The detective working this case has said that it is one of the worst cases of child abuse he has seen in his 40 years of law enforcement.”

Sheriff McBride further stated that the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office “is committed to seeking justice for baby Camden.”
