The Abernathy celebrates its grand opening

CLEMSON – The Abernathy, Clemson’s newest boutique hotel, celebrated its grand opening on Aug. 15 with an event that featured entertainment from the Clemson Cheerleaders and the Clemson Tiger.

The hotel welcomed guests from the community including Clemson Mayor J.C. Cook and Clemson Head Football Coach Dabo Swinney. Swinney spoke on The Abernathy’s true Clemson spirit and his connection to the property.

“This place is special. Genuinely welcoming. A true sense of belonging,” said Swinney.

Named after Clemson’s late, long-time mayor Larry Abernathy, The Abernathy aims to embody not only the community, but also the spirit of the town, which values southern charm and hospitality. The Abernathy credits the late mayor as inspiration to reflect the best of Clemson’s past, present and future.

“We look forward to giving our guests a truly memorable and lasting experience during their time here in Clemson,” said Gary Cohen, general manager of The Abernathy.

With pet friendly accommodations and 41 guest rooms, every guest is treated with the highest level of hospitality and true Clemson Spirit.

The Abernathy prides itself on providing the complete “Clemson Experience,” from featuring world famous Clemson Blue Cheese to serving Clemson inspired specialty cocktails.

“The Abernathy allows guests a unique stay in the heart of Clemson with the addition of a luxurious hotel experience,” said Tom Winkopp, owner of Tom Winkopp Realtor and Developer LLC.

The Abernathy is located one block from Memorial Stadium at 157 Old Greenville Highway in Clemson. It pays homage to the rich history and cherished traditions of Clemson.
