LIBERTY — Four people, including at least three law enforcement officers, were transported to emergency rooms following a chase and wreck on S.C. 123.

According to officials at the scene, officers with the Easley Police Department were involved in a pursuit of a vehicle on 123 headed towards Liberty on Thursday evening.

The suspect’s car crossed the median and crashed into the woods on the other side of the North-bound lane.

Easley Police Chief Tim Tollison said the police officers — two Easley city and one Pickens County Sheriff’s deputy — had removed a passenger from the suspect’s car and were attempting to apprehend the driver when another vehicle, not previously involved in the incident, struck the three officers and the passenger.

At least two helicopters and multiple ambulances were on scene transporting the victims to a hospital in Greenville.

Officials are stating the Easley officers have sustained non-life threatening injuries but there has been no word on the conditions of the Pickens County deputy or the passenger in the suspect vehicle.

It has not been made clear whether the driver of the vehicle that was being chased is in custody or what charges they will be facing.
