PICKENS COUNTY — The Pickens County AN Chapter of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Education Organization) participated in the 73 rd annual convention of the international chapter held at the Charlotte Convention Center, Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 27-30.
The event featured opportunities for business meetings, entertainment, shopping, stimulating presentations and exposure to historical , social, agricultural and manufacturing development within North Carolina and South Carolina.
One evening, recipients of P.E.O. scholarships and loans spoke about the impact of P.E.O.’s financial help in their lives,
From college freshmen (STAR Scholarships) to loan recipient (Education loan fund) to international scholar (International Peace scholarship) to doctoral student (P.E.O Scholar Award), each shared family background, academic success, personal aims and goals and the effect of P.E.O. members and support on their lives.
During a daytime business meeting, after President Sue Baker received the gavel, she spoke about the heart of P.E.O. from 1879 to present: expansion, community and philanthropy.
Each is vital for P.E.O. growth. All three as the heart make the sisterhood stronger and more dynamic.
Greenville, S.C.’s own Emilio Pandolfi’s entertainment at the last banquet was a wonderful closure to an enriching convention planned and executed by the North Carolina/South Carolina P.E.O. sisters.
The AN Chapter members proudly represented the local chapter and worked tirelessly as volunteers throughout the convention.
