EASLEY — Easley High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) orienteering team took second place in their first event of the year on Saturday Nov. 4, 2017 at Kings Mountain State Park.

Nineteen JROTC units from the Carolinas competed in this prestigious event known as the Blue Ridge Orienteering Championship hosted by Alexander Central High School NJROTC unit.

Easley’s team took third on the Yellow course (3.2 km), second on the Orange course (4.1 km), first on the Brown course (5.1 km) and second on the Green course (5.9 km) which resulted in second place over all.

“I’m very proud of the team,” stated Chief Stauder, “seven of the cadets are freshmen so the team has a very positive future. Our next big event will be December 16, 2017 which will be the Area Six competition; winners of that event can compete in the National NJROTC Orienteering Invitational Championship held this school year in central Florida.”

The cadets that competed Saturday are Cadets Kelsie Hart, Dylan Henderson, Jason Jeanes, Brady Beckman, Billy Brown, Benjamin Prins, Clayton Downs, Drew Cole, Steven Chappell, Trevor Kelley, Shana Gilstrap, Lily Addicott, Allyn Hickey, Alexis Bader, Tyler Caron, Braydon Hill, Aubrey Withrow, Javan Dogan and Nataly Rico.
