EASLEY — There is no better way to get in the Christmas spirit than walking into a space filled with festive lights and holiday decorations. For the past 24 years, Baptist Easley Hospital has made sure our community has the perfect place to see the holidays come alive though its Festival of Trees.

This year’s extravaganza kicks off on Dec, 4, with an Illumination Ceremony at 6 p.m. in the hospital’s lobby and atrium and is open to the public throughout the month of December.

The Festival, made possible by the Baptist Easley Hospital Foundation, presents up to 40 trees that are sponsored by individuals and businesses throughout the county. The trees are then decorated by school groups, local designers, business employees and non-profit groups with a wide array of themes and decorations. The trees are available for free viewing from Dec. 5 – Dec. 29, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

On Dec. 4, as a part of the Illumination Ceremony, Santa will be present from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bring children and grandchildren to visit with the jolly ole’ guy. Be sure to bring your camera to take pictures. This opportunity is also free and open to the public.

All those visiting The Festival of Trees during the month will be given the opportunity to register for a prize drawing to win a $100 Outback Steakhouse gift card. The drawing will take place at noon on Dec. 18, and the winner will be notified by phone.

“We are excited about our 2017 Festival of Trees,” said Baptist Easley Hospital Campus President, Todd Walker. “We are pleased to be able to offer this holiday tradition to our community, and we are especially appreciative of all those who sponsor and decorate the trees. Without their support, the festival would not be possible.”

A new opportunity will be added to the 2017 Festival of Trees – The Lights of Love Tree.

This beautiful 7 ½’ tree will be filled with beautiful white lights and placed in the Baptist Easley Hospital lobby. Members of the community will be able to “light” the tree in honor or memory of someone they love.

For a $10 tax deductible gift, you can “light a light” on the tree to honor someone, such as a teacher, mail carrier, friend, relative or co-worker. Or you may want to light a light in memory of someone dear to you. A beautiful holiday card will be sent to the person you honor or the family of the person you are remembering notifying them of your thoughtful gift. In order for your recipient to be notified before Christmas, the Baptist Easley Foundation Office must receive your gift by Dec. 19. Making a gift to The Lights of Love Tree is perfect way to spread holiday good wishes and cheer.
