The nonprofit took second place for in the state of S.C. for its commitment to serving the community, said Tonya Mayes, founder and director of the organization.

The mission of PreDestined Teen Outreach is to equip and empower today’s youth and their families with the “wholistic” approach of self development through monthly community service projects, life skills, fitness, mentoring, self-help workshops, academic assistance and leadership skills, she said.

Additionally, the group of teens along with leaders as well as some of the parents, faithfully serve their community by working on an average of 60 service projects annually.

The focus is to join hands and build a stronger community through collaborations with various organizations in the upstate area, Mayes said.
