The crowds did gather,
‘Round the streets of downtown,
Awaiting the holiday show.
With jackets zipped tight,
To prevent the frostbite.
All these Southerners, turned Eskimo.

When at last it began,
Easley’s Christmas Parade.
The city did turn out en masse.
As kids rushed up to view,
The festive Christmas milieu,
“No marching bands?” they cried out, aghast.
***
As it turned out, you see,
The whole Christmas melee,
Was marred by a sinister dickens.
Orchestrated by snow,
That did whistle and blow.
Could be worse — could’ve canceled,
Like Pickens.
***
But at the end of the day,
It was all in good fun.
And everyone left in good cheer.
Spirits were high,
And I’m not ‘gonna lie,
Twill be hard to top it next year.
