PICKENS COUNTY — The list of charges for Luke Elliot Lister of Pickens just got a lot longer as detectives from the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office have tied him to another eight car break-in cases, bringing the total to 16.

Lister, 37, is now facing a total of 28 charges including Auto breaking, Petit larceny-enhanced and Unlawful Possession of a Handgun from break ins to vehicles found on Browning Road, Briarcliff Road, Bluebird Lane, Clear Dawn Drive and Doberman Trail on Dec. 5 and Dec. 8.

He had previously been arrested for break-ins occurring on Powder Mill Road and Smith Memorial Highway on Nov. 21.

According to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, Lister was already charged with eight counts of Auto Breaking, six counts of Petit Larceny-Enhanced and Unlawful Possession of a Handgun.

His bond is now over $105,000 from the multiple charges.

PCSO Chief Deputy Creed Hashe stated in a previous release all of the vehicles robbed by Lister were unlocked and were broken into while their owners were asleep during the night.

One vehicle’s owner claims the car was locked, but PCSO officials stated there was no sign of forced entry.

“Sheriff’s detectives immediately identified a pattern in that the vehicles had been left unlocked by the owners creating targets of opportunity,” he stated. “Money, clothes, tools and a handgun were reported stolen from the vehicles.”

In several of the cases, the vehicles were ransacked, but nothing was stolen, the release said. In one instance, a loose change and a meat smoker was taken.

He remains in custody at the Pickens County Detention Center.
