West Cox running for district 10

POWDERSVILLE — West Cox has announced his intention to run as a Republican for the South Carolina State House of Representatives in District 10.

District 10 includes the northeast Anderson County communities of Piedmont, Powdersville, White Plains and Three and Twenty as well as parts of Greenville and Pickens Counties.

“I am running for the State House because I believe our state government needs to find ways to be more efficient and ensure that we, the citizens, get the most out of every tax dollar,” said Cox when asked why he is running.

West states his campaign will focus on “bringing efficiency and transparency to state government while working to ensure the district has the attention and resources it needs from its State House Representative.”

West said he volunteers for several area organizations that focus on making the community a better place to live.

“I believe everyone should use their god given abilities to serve their community and the people living in those communities,” he stated. “I believe I can best serve my community by serving in the South Carolina State House.

“Through leadership and determination, I believe we can continue to make South Carolina, and the Upstate, a great place to work and raise our families,” he said.

West is an attorney with Cox & Cole, LLC practicing in the areas of real estate law, probate and estate planning.

He is a product of Anderson County School District One Schools, is a Clemson University graduate and received his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

The seat is currently held by Rep. Joshua Putnam who is not seeking re-election.
