CENTRAL— The Daniel Lions (4-6, 2-3) will live to fight another day even after falling to undefeated Seneca (10-0, 5-0) 35-17 at home to close out the regular season for 2015.

Although the Lions came out on the short end of the scoreboard, Jacob Maloney and C. J. Scott gave notice Daniel was far from finished, pulling down two interceptions each.

Maloney’s first of the night led to a 24-yard TD by Scott offensively as well. The Daniel defense performed exceptionally well against the high powered Bobcats, holding them below their season average of 50 points per game.

Seneca was led on the night by Jacoby Benson with three TD’s and Braxton Gambrell’s two scores, which accounted for all of the Bobcats point production.

Undefeated Seneca will be one of the top seeds in the AAA playoffs in the state, and despite the loss of the final game of the season, Daniel remains alive, qualifying for the playoffs as well.

Daniel will travel to the Rock Hill area to face South Pointe in the opening round of the AAA brackets on Nov. 13. Kick off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
