EASLEY — It was a rough and tumble game with flip-flopping scores much of the night but in the end, it was the Green Wave on top 30-28 in this year’s homecoming game against Greenville.

Easley (3-3) quarterback Weston Black got the game off to a good start when he connected with Carter Wiles for a touchdown in the first.

Greenville (4-1) answered back with a 56-yard pass that saw the Red Raiders snag six — but a blocked extra point kept Easley on top by 1 as the quarter came to a close.

Midway through the second Easley scored again, this time with a short pass to Will Dawdry from less than 10 yards out, bringing the score to 14-6.

But if fans thought Greenville was going to make it easy for them, they were wrong. A minute later the Red Raiders launched an 80-yard bomb into the end zone, topping it off with a successful two-point conversion and tying the game at 14 all.

With less than two minutes left in the half, Greenville fumbled in the end zone setting up yet another score for Easley after a 72-yard scramble.

Greenville took the lead for the first time in the game with back to back scoring drives in the third, bringing the score to 28-21 going into the fourth.

Easley managed another trip to the house with nearly eight minutes left in the game but the missed extra point kept Greenville on top 28-27. It was one that would come down to the wire.

With only 20 seconds left in the game, Green Wave kicker Nathan Baker nailed a 31-yard field goal to put Easley back on top 30-28.

An interception by Sean Faulkner sealed the deal — ending Greenville’s undefeated record — and making it three wins in a row against Greenville for the Green Wave.
