CENTRAL — Easley shocked the Upstate on Friday by defeating the big Daniel Lions 19-17. The game, which many believed was to be a sure win for the Lions, turned out to be anything but.

Daniel (0-1) Head Coach Randy Robinson went on record to talk about many things but mostly that no game is a guarantee.

“You know, we’re a young team this year,” said Robinson during an interview. “We graduated out a lot of seniors last year and we had a rough first half.

“You can’t expect to give up 19 points in a half and still win the game,” continued Robinson. “We’ve got to step that up.”

Penalties also wreaked havoc to both teams as well as some confusion with the game clock.

“That was unfortunate,” said Robinson about the clock. “There was poor coordination between the officials and the scoreboard.”

Easley (2-0) in the meantime finds themselves on a start of the season win streak and will host Seneca (1-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Seneca is coming off a big 56-27 win against Greenville.

Daniel will travel to Greenwood to take on Emerald (1-1). The Vikings are coming off a narrow 23-22 win against Ninety Six.

“They’re a fast team,” warned Robinson. “One of the fastest teams out there. We need to play better if we’re to pull out a win. We need to step up our game.”

Kick off for Daniel at Emerald is at 7:30 p.m.
