POWDERSVILLE — The Powdersville Patriots are on a hot streak after a ridiculous 56-0 victory at Carolina Academy on Friday.
Powdersville (4-2, 1-0) put up 28 points in the first and second quarters while their defense held the Trojans at bay for all four.
The game marks a significant swing in the right direction for the Pats as they head into the final stretch of regular season play.
Up next for Powdersville is Emerald High School (3-3, 1-0), which is heading to Patriot territory on Friday for regional match-up.
The Vikings are coming off a nail-biting overtime win against Palmetto but with their season sitting at .500 and four games left on the schedule, every win counts if teams are to have any hopes of a post-season appearence.
Kick-off for Emerald at Powdersville is at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Back in Pickens County, the Easley Green Wave is going to try and make a comeback from two big shut-out losses in a row — first at Greenville and then at T.L. Hanna.
Easley was sitting on a .500 record going into Friday’s game in Anderson but Hanna’s defense was not to be moved.
The Yellow Jackets put up 52 unanswered points on the Green Wave and allowed Easley to gain only eight rushing yards all night.
Easley returns home to host Westside on Friday where the 4-3 Rams will try to capitalize on their one regional win last week against Woodmont.
Kick off for Westside at Easley is Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
Over in Pickens, the Blue Flame’s schedule isn’t getting any easier following their 42-14 loss against Greenville.
Pickens will host Belton-Honea Path on Friday — a team whose only loss this season has been to (still) undefeated T.L. Hanna.
BHP is coming off a 31-14 win against Emerald.
Kick off is at 7:30 p.m.
