PICKENS COUNTY – A 25-year-old Easley man remained in the Pickens County Detention Center on Monday after he was charged with inflicting great bodily harm on an infant.

Benjamin Sean Lee Bolding, of 235 BD Johnson Road, was arrested Dec. 17 following an investigation into traumatic injuries found on the face and head of a 6-month-old infant. The injuries were characteristic of blunt force trauma.

An investigation was initiated after hospital medical staff informed detectives that a child had been admitted on the morning of Dec. 17 for injuries allegedly sustained while sleeping in a wooden crib.

According to hospital physicians, the injuries were inconsistent with the explanation given by the caretaker.

The investigation revealed that the incident occurred at 235 B.D. Johnston Rd in Pickens County on the morning of Dec. 17. It is believed the injuries occurred while the victim and Bolding, the live-in boyfriend of the child’s mother, were home alone at the residence.

The victim’s mother was at work when the child was injured.

Bolding is being held on a $20,000 surety bond on the one charge and a $652.50 cash bond on an outstanding bench warrant.
